This was my final project for a RISD up-cycling class, a mix of two awesome but ripped and worn pants that my family never used. This jacket has hidden pockets at the shoulder seams, extra pockets inside the jacket, and I installed a side seam zipper pocket. All materials were repurposed from the original pants.
I love this vest. It’s a great light layer on top of a tank top or t-shirt in the summer. Casual style, some unfinished edges. It is made of a few leftover pieces of my dad’s old blue jeans with an adorable white collar taken from pair of my dads shorts. One of the front pockets has been re-seamed to make a useful side entry pocket.
This jacket, made from an old pair of my dad’s shorts and the waist band of his jeans is quite flattering with the most useful most hidden pockets at the collar seam. You can put your phone or wallet in without any bulge because it is hidden under the fluffy gathering at the shoulder line.
I loved these old sweat pants of my moms until one day Otto came out of the laundry room scissors in one hand and these pants cut up in the other. “Let’s make something with these!” He said excitedly, so dealing with the cuts he made I was able to fashion it into my favorite little jacket. Shortening Sally’s button downed shirt gave me the center buttons and cuff fabric.
Silky durable texture, these sun stained shorts were a treasure to work with.
